Prudential Spirit of the Community Awards

Hi Red Cross Members!

The Prudential Spirit of the Community Awards will be your first opportunity of this school year to be recognized for your work with our American Red Cross Club! To apply, you must complete an application and then submit it to us at tpredcross@gmail.com so that we can pass it on to our Headquarters for consideration for the state level competition. Applications should be submitted before November 1, 2011.

Local honorees are chosen in early November for state-level judging, and then in February one high school student in each state will be chosen as a state honoree and will receive a cash prize of $1,000, a silver medallion, and an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C. for May. Runner-ups will also be chosen and receive bronze medallions, and other top candidates will receive Certificates of Excellence.

The national event is scheduled for May 5-8, 2012 in Washington, D.C., where the National Selection Committee will name America's top ten youth volunteers of the year. Each National Honoree will receive an additional $5,000, a gold medallion, a crystal trophy for display at his or her school or organization, and a $5,000 grant from The Prudential Foundation for a nonprofit, charitable organization of his or her choice.

I know that a lot of our members are very impressive and active volunteers, and not just in our club. If you've done something amazing for the community this year in terms of volunteer work, consider applying for this awards process to be recognized for all that you've done! Volunteering means giving without asking for anything in return, so just this once let yourself be rewarded for your hard work. :)

Email tpredcross@gmail.com or my personal email (katharine.e.yang@gmail.com) to ask more about this process.
